Kaskad

The next generation of DeFi lending and crypto adoption

Our Global Roadmap
A comprehensive vision for the Future
Our roadmap outlines the strategic development of our lending platform on the Kaspa blockchain, designed to deliver a secure, transparent, and innovative decentralized finance (DeFi) experience. Below, we provide a detailed breakdown of each phase, including Version 1 (V1), Version 2 (V2), and our Oracle Timeline, enriched with additional features to enhance functionality and user engagement. Our goal is to create a robust lending ecosystem that empowers users, fosters community collaboration, and bridges traditional and decentralized finance.

V1: Building the Foundation

Objective

The primary goal of V1 is to establish a functional lending platform, gather critical market insights, and build a foundation for future iterations. By releasing V1 to a targeted audience within the Kaspa community before the introduction of smart contracts, we aim to validate our concept, refine features based on user feedback, and attract talented developers to contribute to the project.

Key Features

  • Initial Lending Functionality: V1 will introduce lending on the Kaspa blockchain for the first time, enabling users to lend and borrow assets entirely on-chain. Initially, lending will support only KAS, USDC and USDT, ensuring simplicity and stability during this early phase.
  • Manual Liquidations: To maintain control and reliability, our team will handle liquidations manually. This process will be transparent, with clear documentation provided to users to explain how liquidations are executed and monitored. Keep in mind this does not affect the security of the user’s loan, rather the ability for our lending protocol to avoid having bad debt.
  • Centralized Architecture: V1 will operate as a centralized platform to allow for rapid deployment and iteration. While not fully optimized, the platform will prioritize security and transparency to build user trust. The user will send collateral to our wallet, while we ensure sending the appropriate amount corresponding to the loan in the briefest delays. This is necessary to build a small user base before smart contracts are available, and get feedback on certain functionalities.
  • No Fiat Integration: V1 will focus exclusively on cryptocurrency-based lending, with no fiat functionality. This allows us to concentrate on refining the core lending mechanics before introducing more complex integrations.
  • User Feedback Portal: A dedicated feedback portal will be integrated into the platform, enabling users to submit suggestions, report issues, and propose new features. This will ensure that V1 evolves in alignment with community needs.
  • Educational Resources: To empower users, V1 will include a resource hub with tutorials, FAQs, and guides explaining lending, staking, and the Kaspa ecosystem. Our aim is to make DeFi accessible to both experienced and novice users.
  • Mobile and Web Apps: V1 will launch dedicated mobile apps (iOS and Android) and a revamped web interface, offering a seamless user experience across devices.

Goals

By targeting a small, engaged audience from the Kaspa community, we will gain insights into user behavior, preferences, and pain points. Positive user experiences and transparent communication will attract builders and developers interested in contributing to the project. Fundraising Preparation: Data collected during V1 will enable us to make accurate demand projections, strengthening our case for fundraising to support V2 development. Despite its centralized nature, V1 will adhere to high security standards, with robust encryption and multi-factor authentication for user accounts. The oracle system (detailed below) will be fully documented, and all processes will be explained in plain language to ensure transparency.

Timeline

V1 is expected to launch within the next 6–9 months, depending on development progress and community engagement. Regular updates will be shared via our website and social channels.

V2 : Pioneering Decentralized Lending

Objective

V2 will transition our platform into a fully decentralized lending protocol, marking a significant leap forward in functionality, scalability, and user empowerment. This version will leverage Kaspa’s smart contract capabilities through the Igra devnet and launch in sync with Igra’s mainnet activation.‍

Key Features‍

  • Decentralized Lending Protocol: V2 will operate entirely on-chain, eliminating reliance on centralized intermediaries. Users will lend and borrow assets through smart contracts, ensuring trustlessness and immutability.
  • Expanded Asset Support: In addition to KAS and USDC, V2 will introduce support for wrapped tokens (e.g., wBTC, wETH) and stablecoins native to the Kaspa ecosystem (e.g., KUSD or other emerging stablecoins). This will broaden the platform’s utility and appeal to a wider audience.
  • Kaskard: Decentralized Fiat Lending: Through strategic partnerships with online banks and fintech providers, V2 will introduce the Kaskard, a groundbreaking feature enabling decentralized fiat lending. Users will be able to borrow fiat currencies (e.g., USD, EUR) against their crypto collateral, bridging DeFi with traditional finance. See our dedicated page for more details.
  • Automated Liquidations: Unlike V1’s manual process, V2 will implement automated liquidations via smart contracts. These will be executed based on predefined triggers, ensuring efficiency and fairness while minimizing reliance on exchanges to liquidate loans. Users will be incentives to reimburse loans for a reward as done in the AAVE protocol.
  • Staking Mechanism: To incentivize early adopters, V1 will include a staking feature where users can stake their KAS tokens to earn rewards. Staked tokens will contribute to platform liquidity, and rewards will be distributed based on staking duration and amount, fostering community participation.

Development and Audit

  • Hiring Expertise: We will recruit one or more top-tier smart contract developers with a proven track record in DeFi to lead V2’s development, ensuring the protocol is secure and efficient.
  • Third-Party Audits: Before launch, V2 will undergo comprehensive audits by reputable blockchain security firms to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities. Audit reports will be publicly shared for transparency.
  • Igra Devnet Testing: V2 will be rigorously tested on the Igra devnet to simulate real-world conditions, ensuring stability and performance under various scenarios.

Goals

Our goals are to establish our platform as the premier lending protocol on Kaspa, setting a benchmark for security, usability, and innovation. Offer a diverse range of assets, advanced features, and governance opportunities to create a user-driven ecosystem. The Kaskard and cross-chain compatibility will attract users from both crypto and traditional finance, expanding our user base.

Timeline

V2 development will begin in parallel with V1’s rollout, with testing on the Igra devnet expected within 12–18 months. The official launch will align with Igra’s mainnet activation, projected for late 2026 or early 2027.

Oracle Timeline
Ensuring Accuracy and Trust
Our oracle system is critical to providing reliable price feeds for lending and liquidation processes. We are committed to building a secure, transparent, and user-centric oracle that evolves over time to meet the needs of our platform and the broader DeFi ecosystem.

Phase 1: Initial Oracle Implementation

The first version of our oracle will be based on current basic oracle systems, that are shown to work under conditions of honesty from reputable exchanges. More details on oracles can be found on our dedicated page in the website documentation. Key features  of the V1 oracle will include:

  • Price Aggregation: The oracle will fetch real-time price data from multiple exchange APIs and compute a weighted median to ensure accuracy.
  • User-Controlled Transparency: Recognizing concerns about exchange reliability, users will have the option to exclude specific exchanges from the price calculation. This feature empowers users to customize their oracle feed based on trust preferences. A unique feature not often observed on current lending protocols.
  • Supported Assets: Initially, the oracle will provide price feeds for KAS and USDC, with plans to expand to wrapped tokens and stablecoins in V2.

Phase 2: Next-Generation Oracle Development
Moving forward, Eliott is working in direct supervision with Yonatan, developing an oracle better than what has been done up until now. His blogs, explaining current oracle problematics, as well as his progress, will be tracked on our website for a continuous improvement of the oracle. The users will be notified and will even be allowed to chose which version of the oracle they prefer. All of this will be clearly explained for the user not only to have the most secure oracle, but for educational purposes in order to empower our users to better understand lending platforms.,
